New Adventure Bass Guitar
Music therapist, have you ever tried bass guitar before? 🤯
Bass guitar is an incredibly accessible “typical” stringed instrument. You can play it with a pick or with your fingers, and what’s really great about it is that we are focusing on only one note at a time, rather than 6 strings at a time. 1️⃣
This makes it incredibly ideal for adaptive lessons, or instrument teaching to achieve nonmusical goals. I’ve taught metal songs to a psych patient for him to use as a coping skill when he left the hospital, added bass to heartbeat recordings to make the recording sound fuller, and worked with a stroke survivor who was a bass player to address gross/fine motor movement. 🙏🏼
Now, I am working with an autistic individual who is obsessed with the rockband video game and discovered that he has an innate ear and ability to play bass! 🤯
Happy riffing! 🎸
