Please contact Ryan Johnson at support@riffswithryan.com with any questions or concerns. In the event that a suitable resolution is not provided, the participant may contact the Continuing Education Committee of the Certification Board of Music Therapists (CBMT) to report a grievance.
Riffs with Ryan is approved to provide continuing education to music therapists by CBMT. Riffs with Ryan (Provider Number P-246) maintains responsibility for program quality, and adherence to CBMT policies and criteria.
Not all content are eligible for CMTE credit.

Mission and Purpose
Riffs with Ryan is dedicated to providing high-quality Continuing Music Therapy Education (CMTE) opportunities that help board-certified music therapists strengthen their guitar skills and increase clinical effectiveness in music therapy contexts. Through accessible online education, Riffs with Ryan seeks to support professional development, promote excellence in music therapy practice, and enhance the quality of care provided by music therapists. All CMTE courses are structured in a tutorial then practice sequence, and all videos must be watched in their entirety. All music therapists can get benefit from taking the CMTE courses, but advanced guitarists will likely get more guitar growth from the free Riffs with Ryan material.
Grievance Procedures
Right to File a Grievance
Participants have the right to file a grievance regarding any aspect of a Riffs with Ryan continuing education opportunity.
Scope of Grievances
Grievances may relate to, but are not limited to:
Course content and educational quality
Instructor conduct
Accessibility of course materials
Technical issues that significantly interfere with participation
Administrative processes related to registration, completion, or CMTE documentation
Compliance with CBMT Approved Provider Requirements
Procedure for Filing a Grievance
Participants wishing to file a grievance must submit the grievance in writing within thirty (30) calendar days of completing the continuing education opportunity.
The written grievance should include:
Participant's full name
Contact information
Name of the continuing education opportunity
Date of participation
Description of the concern
Any supporting documentation
Grievances should be submitted by email to: support@riffswithryan.com
Upon receipt, Riffs with Ryan will acknowledge the grievance within seven (7) business days.
Provider Response
Procedure
Riffs with Ryan will review all submitted grievances in a fair and timely manner. Investigation may include review of course records, communications, etc.
A written response outlining findings and any proposed resolution will be provided within twenty (20) business days of receipt of the grievance whenever reasonably possible.
If additional time is required, the participant will be notified of the anticipated timeline.
Appeal Procedures
Right to Appeal
Participants have the right to appeal any grievance decision made by Riffs with Ryan if they believe the matter has not been adequately resolved.
Procedure for Filing an Appeal
Appeals must be submitted in writing within fifteen (15) calendar days of the participant's receipt of the grievance decision.
The appeal should include:
Participant's name and contact information
Reference to the original grievance
Explanation of why the participant believes the decision should be reconsidered
Any additional supporting information
Appeals should be submitted by email to: support@riffswithryan.com
Provider Response to Appeal
Riffs with Ryan will review the appeal and provide a written final decision within twenty (20) business days of receipt of the appeal. If additional time is necessary, the participant will be informed of the revised timeline.
CBMT Review of Unresolved Grievances
If a participant believes that a grievance remains unresolved after exhausting the Riffs with Ryan grievance and appeal procedures, the participant has the right to submit the unresolved grievance to the Continuing Education Committee of the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) for review in accordance with CBMT policies and procedures.
