Do you know how to play walking basslines on guitar? 🧐

Think about what chord you’re starting on and how many “steps” or beats to your target chord. We “walk” often in step-wise motion and/or encapsulate the target note, which is often the root of the chord. This idea basically helps you write the basslines for you once you practice it! 🤓

For MT applications, I typically use walking bass a lot when providing songs authentically in an old country genre, or when playing jazz standards like “Autumn Leaves”. Adding a bassline is a quick way to make some riffs, and bring the bassline up an octave to see how it sounds as a melody! 🎶

Happy riffing! 🎸
