Funky Pony Party Level 2 Breakdown

❗️Don’t “pass up” on this tip!❗️

Use the notes in your scale to connect from chord to chord making passing notes. Most of these are passing notes below the target note, but some can be from above as well ⬆️

For my music therapy friends, if you’re wanting to make a sudden rhythmic change to increase engagement and want a smoother transition rather than a sudden shift, put an “anticipation” of the new groove in the last bar of your ending phrase, before you go into the new one. This works because from a music cognition standpoint, the listener is already anticipating some kind of change as you move into the next phrase (think verse —> chorus). It also increases your engagement because the shift happens before the phrase creating excitement and tension that then get fulfilled and “resolved” when you go into the new phrase 🧠

I share more tips specifically for music therapists in my free newsletter—drop a comment below if you want more tips that will dramatically change your guitar playing for the better! 🎉

Happy riffing! 🎸
